When I first saw this picture I said, “Whoa.” I’ve been watching the media coverage of Mike Brown since the night Brown was killed, but this picture says so much, why…because he’s holding AN OPEN BAG OF CHIPS (Red Hot Riplets–oh, the irony). My neighborhood had the highest crime rate in the New York City and I’ve seen a lot of things and I know one thing for sure, if you are going to commit a crime of kind, an open bag of chips WILL NEVER be part of the equation. Trust.
The photo points out a few things:
1. People are mad as hell and aren’t going to take it anymore.
2. Whether he, @eyeFloodpanties (that’s his twitter handle–and he’s keeping it that way) was marching or hanging out, as a police official, throwing tear gas is a bit–shall we say–excessive.
3. The shirt he’s wearing is the American flag. Bruh. Should I go any further? Or you got this? (And to think the bag of chips was ironic.) To paraphrase Langston Hughes, He, too, is America. The world is watching, America should be ashamed…but we know better.
4. He’s only armed with the weapon THEY gave him. Let that marinate.
