First, I am not in the Bey hive. But Beyoncé’s work ethic is something that has always kept me in awe. Now for what this post is really about…Last night Beyonce dropped a new video “7/11”. It is definitely a deviation from the norm than is expected from Mrs. Carter. The video treatment was probably something she thought of the night before, shot the next day, edited the morning after, and dropped yesterday evening. The video may have been choreographed, produced and directed by her (a little Beyonce humor there).
But what is really noteworthy is how carefree it is.
In the midst of the political and social chaos, in the midst of the hustle for striving for better, in the pursuit of happiness, Beyoncé stopped and was just that–happy. Her antics is something people used to do when no one was watching; she uses her foot as a phone, she is jumping off of the bed; and she sings in a blow dryer. Moreover, she and her crew are dancing around in their underwear more–there’s nothing is more carefree than that, trust me.
My favorite part was when she tried to put one leg through her the other like rap group Kid N’ Play, falls, pops her head up and flashes a smile. It says: I tried, I failed, and I’m OK!–and you know she’s going to get back up. It speaks volumes when the worlds’ most celebrated woman shows that. She did that.
And yeah…she been dranking, so what? She’s legal. So, cheers to Beyoncé for reminding us to take a break and enjoy life.
Side Note: I contacted someone from the Bey hive and asked her to explain the video she replied, its magical. At first, I laughed at her then gave it more thought…it reminded me of a Roald Dahl quote:
“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”
